Technical Sheet:   Part #LJC:
THE LONGJOHNNY CYLINDER

Note that use of this product or participation in the activity of pumping is something you do entirely at your own risk. Read all the contents of this information sheet before using your cylinder, including the disclaimer at the bottom.

About the materials:
This cylinder is made of premium grade Cell-cast Lucite Acrylic tubing, with end fittings machined from PVC plastics. Cast Lucite has optical clarity. It will give you a clear view of your progress, and helping you avoid any condition you don't want to create. If you are pumping wet (water in the cylinder) it will be a magnified view as well. Cast Lucite is durable and stress resistant. It can be scratched, but minor scratches can be polished out by hand with polishes made specifically for acrylics, such as Novus #2 scratch remover, available at most plastics supply companies.

Cylinder Maintenance:
Clean your cylinder with mild liquid soap and water after use. Do not use anything abrasive, and dry only with clean soft cloth or soft paper towels, to retain the clarity of the finish. Avoid lubricants that are petroleum or petrochemical based. They will slowly damage acrylics, and they will quickly damage your Precision Seal. We recommend using only PumpToys "Glyde" lubricant. Store the cylinder at room temperature. Avoid extended exposure to direct sunlight and/or high heats, such as leaving it in a parked car or trunk. Volatile petrochemical solvents (such as finger nail polish remover or lacquer thinner) can damage acrylic surfaces instantly- keep the cylinder away from areas where such solvents are used or stored.

Your LongJohhny Cylinder includes a female quick-disconnect fitting which closes automatically when the vac hose is removed. You can quickly release vacuum from the cylinder by depressing the end of this fitting. It's not necessary to re-connect the coupler, but you do need to depress the end in such a way that you don't seal the opening. Most cylinder makers place the other side of the coupler on the cylinder, which requires you to re-connect the hose in order to release vacuum.

This is a two-part coupling. To install the female fitting in the cylinder: Screw the threaded end into the cylinder cap until the o-ring seals snugly, finger tight is sufficient. To attach or disconnect the couplings, press down on the silver tab on the female half of the fitting while making the connection.

If you have several cylinders and would like to make them all compatible, you only need one of the male side (SDI-18) connectors, which fits in the 1/4" ID tubing going to your pump and is included with the LJC. However you need one female side (SDB-18) for each cylinder. Additional coupler parts may be ordered from PumpToys. NOTE that PumpToys Cylinders are threaded for 1/8" NPT fittings.

Your cylinder also comes with a #STJ or STJ-S "Precision Seal". The STJ is our injection-molded soft plastic seal which will make the cylinder fit you like a glove. IMPORTANT: Be sure and read the instructions for the seal!
