What's a "Sun Tea" Jar? It's a sturdy 3-4 qt. jar used to make tea in the summertime, by setting it out in the sun to brew. For many years these were readily found in most hardware and discount department stores as a seasonal item. Today becoming a bit harder to find in a suitably rigid plastic material, we suggest alternately you might try looking into ‘flea market’ and local ‘garage’ sales if you’re unable to locate one otherwise.

The Sun Tea Jar, or "STJ" has been the starting point for thousands of pumpers. There are two steps to converting the jar into the pump- First, making a practical seal for the mouth of the jar, and then modifying the valve to accept a vac line. PumpToys' STJ Precision Seal made the seal problem a thing of the past, but you still had to modify the valve. No more! This kit does it all. If you can turn a nut by hand, you can convert a Sun Tea Jar into a two-stage cylinder in a matter of minutes.

New Port Fitting! The Conversion Kit has a new port section- stronger material – smaller profile- and now includes a thick silicone washer and nut! Complete! Note that not all jars are the same, and to fit the STJ Seal the mouth of your jar should be between 3-3/4" to 4".

You simply unscrew the inner nut on your jar (by hand), pull out the old valve, stick in the new- and tighten the nut of the new fitting. After making sure the rim/lip of the jar is free of sharp edges, place the Precision Seal on the rim, connect your pump and you are ready to go. What could be easier?

Special Note regarding Conversion Port Fittings: The new Conversion Kit Port fitting will fit a chamber with a wall thickness up to 1/4” and a minimum diameter opening of 9/16”. A 5/8” diameter opening is ideal.
